Cottage Location on North Lake

Guests created a travel log of their June 2007 cycling adventures while staying at Polaris Cottage. This log provides many photos of the local area.

North Lake is mostly undeveloped, and provides a peaceful setting for your vacation. Its crystal clear water offers superb boating, fishing, and swimming. North Lake is located on the northern tip of the Chiputneticook Lake Region, the beginning of one of the longest stretches of largely undeveloped boundary water in the Eastern US. (Note: Google map data only shows the U.S. portion of North Lake and East Grand Lake. The satellite data shows the entire lake.)

Canoeists may want to read a description of paddling the Chiputneticook Lakes and the St. Croix River, where the starting point is on North Lake near Polaris Cottage.

Directions

Cottage Address: 15 Armour Lane, North Lake (New Brunswick, Canada)

From the All Points in the U.S.

1. Take I 95 North to the N.B. border crossing, approximately 120 miles north of Bangor. Border is 24 hrs, 7 days a week.
2. After crossing the border, U.S. I-95 becomes CDN Provincial Rte 95 East.
3. Follow Provincial Route 95 East for 4.2 miles, then turn right onto Highway 540 South
4. Continue south on Highway 540 for approximately 24 miles until the Highway Tees, turn right onto Highway 122
5. Continue on Highway 122 for approximately 2 miles, down the hill, and turn right into Armour Lane
6. Follow Armour Lane a few hundred feet to the end and you will find a parking area and Polaris Cottage (red) at the end of the lane.

From Houlton, Maine / Woodstock, N.B.

1. Cross the US / CDN border on I 95 near Houlton
2. Continue east and 4 miles after the border, take Rte 540 South.
3. Continue on Rte 540 South for approximately 24 miles
4. At Graham Corner, the junction with Rte 122, bear / turn right
5. Continue on Rte 122 for approximately 2 miles, North Lake will come into
view as you come down the hill.
6. Turn right at the street sign for Armour Lane.
7. Follow Armour Lane a few hundred feet to the end and you will find a parking area and Polaris Cottage (red).

From Fredericton N.B.

1. Take PROVINCIAL ROUTE 2 West / TRANS CANADA HWY toward EDMUNDSTON, follow for 45.2 miles.
2. Turn LEFT onto PROVINCIAL SECONDARY ROUTE 122, past Skiff and Eel Lakes, follow for approx. 23 miles.
3. As you come down a hill, North Lake will come into view. Turn right into Armour Lane.

Shortcut from Boston, Portland, or Bangor

1. Take I 95 North
2. Approximately 43 miles north of Bangor take exit 227 towards Lincoln.
3. After crossing the river turn left at the light, onto Rte 6 & 2 (West Broadway) towards downtown Lincoln
4. Continue straight until the road tees at stop light, turn left onto Main St
5. On the other side of Downtown, at the Y, bear right onto Rte 6
6. Continue along Rte 6 for approx 20 miles to the Town of Springfield, white church on left.
7. In Springfield, turn left on Park St. / Rte 169
8. Follow Rte 169 to the Town of Danforth
9. In Danforth follow Rte 1 North
10. In Orient Bear right onto the School House Road (Old Route 1) and then right onto Boundary Rd towards the International Border. School House road is easy to miss!
11. After crossing the border continue straight to the first intersection, Turn left on Rte 122
12. Continue approximately 3 miles past the Youth Council Camp on your left, cross a large stream bridge with lake on your left. Turn left on Armour Lane, the third driveway on left after crossing the bridge.
13. Continue to end of driveway to the red cottage.
